Sports massage is tailored to your injury, targeting the specific area and adjoining muscles. Often when we strain a muscle or sprain a ligament, our body works to compensate by putting more emphasis on other muscle groups. During treatments clients often find that the unaffected muscles are more tender that the ones that were injured!
While there are some similarities between sports and remedial massage, we will tailor our techniques specific to your sport or activity, being considerate of your training schedule. Game-time commencement will affect what type of treatment we select.
Sports techniques include tapotement (like little karate chops, but nicer!), stretching and advanced types of mobilisation such as Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), which works to increase flexibility and decrease muscle contraction through resistance. We’ll work with your schedule to design a treatment plan that will sort out the injury quicker and help you smash it at training!
